Birthday Candle Stick Process of Creation was Blown, Solid Sculpted, and Hot Assembled Glass. 16 inches tall x 6 inches round June 18 2009 |
||
The day was Edward’s Birthday, the 18 th of June 2009, and he was taking a workshop with Elio Quarisa in Corning New York. Clark discussed a few of his Chalice design ideas with Quarisa and in response to Clark’s drawings, Quarisa created the white cane Wrasse (fish) in this Venetian style candlestick holder. Clark picked up some scraps from Elio’s work that day. Later in the evening, Clark assembled the candlestick, drip plate, and the foot made of white cane or filigrana. Together Elio’s beautifully crafted Wrasse and the small scraps Clark collected from the bench were assembled into a magical underwater seascape of sea shells, anemones, coral, and red and green algae. Corning’s special blue color pot allowed a sea of creativity between two masters to unite in this one of a kind candle stick.
